Saturday 15th August 2015
to be held at The Royal Cornwall Showground,
Wadebridge, PL27 7JE
(Horses starting at 9.00am - entries from 8.00 am on the day)
(Dogs starting at 1.00 pm - entries from 12 noon)
Lanivet Show started in 1960 and was held at the Lanivet football field with classes for horses, cattle, sheep, pigs and horticulture. The show was dropped in 1961.
In 1962 the show was re-started and moved to Forda Farm and all classes were dropped except for horses and horticulture.
In 1966 the show was dropped again and in 1967 there was an outbreak of Foot & Mouth disease but in 1969, having held a public meeting, it started once again.
In 1977 a dog show was added and the show now continues in its present state as a horse & dog show as the horticulture classes were dropped several years ago.
In 2001 the show was cancelled due to Foot & Mouth.
In 2002 the show transferred to the Royal Cornwall Showground and has always been held on the first Saturday of August, but unfortunately due to the lack of space now available to us in view of an ever expanding religious festival on the same day, the date has had to be moved to the third Saturday of August.
Since 1980 Lanivet Show has worked for many different charities and has so far raised £32,908 which has been distributed locally.
